At Duran & Sons Universal Plumbing & Rooter, we understand when water heaters develop problems, they must be resolved immediately. Like any other system, the longer the problem persists, the worse it eventually gets. This may lead to expensive repairs which may have been avoided if it was taken care of sooner. So to prevent yourself from spending a lot money, here are some common water heater problems and their symptoms.
Rust
Like most water appliances, rust is an inevitability in the long run. If progressed any further, rust found in water heaters is an indication of larger issues to come. A rusty storage take can lead to ruptures, causing extensive water damage throughout the surrounding area. As soon as you identify rust in your water heater, it’s important to contact a professional plumber to fix the issue.
Dip Tube Problems
The dip tube in water heaters runs through the water line through the top of the storage tank and exits near the bottom. The purpose of it is to allow cold water into the tank, where it will be heated quickly. This also prevents cold water from blending with the hot water being extracted from the system, so users can enjoy a consistent flow of warm water. If the dip stick breaks or cracks, cold water will likely mix with the hot water, leading to sudden blasts of cold water. Immediately call for repairs if this issue occurs.
